Following
the trend, BOE - one of the leading display manufacturers from China showcases
their first ever foldable display prototype today. We have been bearing in mind
about the Samsung's foldable smartphone prototype from a while, which was later
confirmed by the Samsung officials, as well as the Xiaomi foldable phone hands-on
video which was allegedly leaked recently, this time it’s the Chinese display
manufacturers BOE here with their new foldable screen prototype.
The video was found on the
Weibo handle of China Unicom- a Chinese telecommunication operator with the
caption - At the Xinhua News Agency Chengdu New
Media Conference, BOE has displayed its own flexible screen products. The
folding screen mobile phone is not far away!
The GIF evidently
shows that the device can be folded backwards right from the middle, which
splits out the screen into two new different screens. The UI shifts accordingly
i.e the UI adapts the smartphone mode whenever the device is folded and
switches back to the tablet mode at any time the device is restored to its primary
state. As far as the existence of foldable smartphones in the market ain't
clear yet, the tech world is readily waiting for more manufacturers to join the
foldable phone battle.
Surprisingly
there have been reports from the very last year itself that Huawei is holding
hands with BOE to bring up the world's first foldable device in the market
before Samsung. If so let us wait and see whether Huawei could surpass Samsung
in the initial launch of worlds first foldable smartphone.
